When asked to carry out a full commercial shop fit-out for Timberland and Haviannas we couldn’t say no, especially as it was to be undertaken in the picturesque seaside town of St. Ives ( which does incur it’s own logistical challenges). The project was to coincide with one of the busiest times of the year in St. Ives – Easter. Carrying out out a commercial fit out on a premises in a busy street, we needed to assure public safety and organise deliveries before the town became packed with tourists. With the addition that the properties above the shops in St Ives were private dwellings – we had to consider noise implications, which restricted us from working too late.
A modern , crisp , commercial fit out
The design for the store followed Timberland’s and Havianna’s framework, which allowed us to know from the start what was expected – from the flooring type to the finish on the walls. However, as with most properties in Cornwall we knew the preparation wouldn’t be straight forward. With uneven original timber floors, out of plumb walls and some really old construction methods we had to be innovative. Weekly site meetings and daily contact with he stakeholders meant we were able to carry out our work without any downtime, overcoming obstacles and unforeseen issues that only arise once the original fabric of the property was pulled back. It was a pleasure to transform the tired property and bring our skill set into full force.
