Newquay Airport Departure Lounge Refurbishment: Bespoke Retail & Café Fit-Out with Lighting, Joinery & Plumbing Upgrades

Project Overview:

Following the successful installation of a new bar area in the departure lounge, we were tasked with a full refit of the retail and café space. This included demolition, new walls, flooring, decoration, tiling,  plumbing, electrical, ventilation work, and the creation of a new food preparation and storage area. We also upgraded emergency and general lighting throughout the space. Additionally, we installed bespoke banquette seating, a custom café counter, retail shelving, and completed tiling works to ensure a cohesive and modern finish.

Design & Collaboration

We worked in close partnership with the interior designers, architects, and Newquay Airport’s team to bring the vision to life. Our in-house joinery team crafted a custom café counter, bespoke retail shelving, unique banquette seating and point of sale items amongst others, all tailored to the airport’s requirements. We also carried out the tiling works, ensuring the finishes were both functional and visually appealing. Throughout the process, we focused on creating a space that was not only operationally efficient but also inviting and modern for travelers.

Challenges and Solutions

Managing the entire project as the main contractor, we scheduled noisy works around flight schedules, adhered to strict security protocols, and ensured effective segregation between the public and construction areas. We also worked closely with airport teams to ensure smooth coordination and minimal disruption.

Outcome:

The completed refit transformed the departure lounge, creating a modern, efficient, and welcoming space that enhanced the customer experience while keeping the airport’s operations running smoothly.
