Being a leading fit out service in Cornwall, ST. Ives Town council got in touch to ask RRW if we would like to tender for the proposed works in the historic John Passmore library building. We teamed up with an interior design company that we thought would suit the nature of this project – QUAYSTUDIO. Following the brief and after a site survey ,we collaborated with Rachal and Victoria on a concept proposal that we presented to the Town Council and and local residents. Safe to say our proposal and presentation was greatly received and our responses through the Q&A session alleviated any concerns the Council and residents had.

A multi-functional use of a traditional Library space

After being awarded the project we defined the brief and developed the initial concept design to suit the brief as well as keeping it with-in budget. One of the main changes to the space was to integrate the Tourist Information Services – which was located in the Guildhall , whilst allowing for the library service to continue in unison. On top of this we needed to create space for retail. This was key to our clients as the vision was to bring an added revenue stream. Overall we feel that the collaboration between design contractor and client worked well. Timescales and budgets were adhered to and the outcome was well received by all stakeholders.

St Ives Town Council was really pleased to select RRW Shopfitters to be the main contractor for the refurbishment of the town’s library – and delighted with the brilliant work that the company produced.

Ben and his team impressed us from the outset. They quickly understood that our project was very important to the council and our community. They listened patiently to what we wanted, adapted to our changing brief, and gave good advice and leadership when it was needed. All of the RRW team was professional, calm and approachable throughout the work, and they continue to give us great help and advice.

Many people in our community tell us how impressed they are with the new-look library, and the staff absolutely love it. We would have no hesitation at all in  using RRW for similar projects in future.
